In the next half hour, Celtic will walk out onto the Ibrox turf. One or both teams will drop points for the first time this season.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, both teams have maximum points from their opening three Premiership matches. With both teans enjoying an equal share of the spoils last season as well, this game is a difficult one to predict.
Before the defeat at Ibrox last December, losing to Rangers seemed unthinkable. Brendan Rodgers lost at Ibrox and so did Neil Lennon, but they each won the games at Celtic Park.
As managers, Lennon and Gerrard have faced each other four times. Lennon drew with Rangers twice whilst at Hibs last year, won one at Celtic Park and lost one at Ibrox with Celtic.
In terms of stats it is honors even. Predictions for these matches aren’t generally my thing.
I don’t think I can call this one. With that element of domination not in place any more it is anyone’s guess.
What I will say is that I like what I see from Celtic. Yes, we’re disappointed with that Cluj game, but that aside we’ve been playing well.
We’ll know very soon who, if anyone, has come out on top of this one. Come on the Hoops!
